Joomla was first released in 2005. Joomla is a free & open source content management framework (CMF) for publishing dynamic content on websites using model–view–controller (MVC) approach. Joomla is written in PHP, using object-oriented programming (OOP) techniques & software design patterns stores data in a MySQL or MS SQL database. Joomla includes features such as page caching, RSS feeds, printable versions of pages, news flashes, blogs, polls, search, and support for language internationalization.  Since the release over 9200 free & commercial extensions have been developed in Joomla. Joomla is considered as the second most used CMS and over 30 million copies of Joomla have been downloaded till date.
